Every Student Known; Every Student Matters
For all our students to flourish and thrive, our pastoral care is an upmost priority and is the foundation of all our work here at Shrewsbury High.
Our pastoral provision at Shrewsbury High is called CLIMB – this encompasses everything from form times, pastoral 1-2-1s, assemblies and Period X, with all our wellbeing work centred around fostering an inclusive space where diversity is celebrated and individuality flourishes.
At Juniors, it is our form teachers who are the first port of call for our students and their parents and every student has an experienced pastoral team around them with our Head and Deputy Head of Juniors, SENDCo and School Nurse part of the wider team encouraging the children to gain confidence and self-belief.
We are prepared to offer the same high level of pastoral care that we have previously provided to girl students to the new intact of boys who will be joining us from September 2026.
Speak Up!
Our innovative Speak Up programme encourages junior pupils to share how they are feeling on a daily basis. Children scan one of the QR codes around the junior school with their iPads (all junior pupils are given their own iPad), and select from a choice of moods to represent how they are feeling. They are also asked if they would like to speak to a member of staff, and if so, which one? This can be anyone they feel most comfortable with.
