Sitting on Town Walls, we benefit from a most enviable location; a stone’s throw from the vibrant town centre, the beautiful River Severn, and the much-loved Quarry park, while also being just a short journey from the outstanding Shropshire countryside. This unique setting provides our students with a rich and varied environment in which to learn, explore and feel connected to the world beyond the classroom.

Our location has been put to particularly good use this week, with every Junior School year group venturing out to undertake geography fieldwork. From the market and town centre to the open spaces of the Quarry, pupils have explored both human and physical aspects of the local environment. These experiences are invaluable, enabling them to develop key skills such as observation, data collection, analysis, and teamwork whilst building a deeper understanding of how people and places interact.

Elsewhere, Year 7 pupils have enjoyed a well-earned pause from assessments with a relaxing walk along the river, and no walk would be complete without ice cream! Ms Cook’s Period X group have continued to build confidence and independence through their Bikeability course with Learn Cycling, while last Friday our Adventure Club made the most of the glorious surroundings with a trip to Grinshill for some outdoor climbing.

Looking ahead, we wish our Year 10 and Year 12 students the very best of luck as they head out on work experience after half term. This is an exciting opportunity for them to explore the workplace and begin to experience life beyond Town Walls, and we hope they gain confidence, insight, and inspiration from all they encounter.

And finally, as we reach the end of a busy half term, we would like to wish all members of our community a restful and enjoyable break. I hope you find time to get outside, recharge, and make the most of everything that Shrewsbury and the wider Shropshire countryside has to offer.
