Parent Communication

Parents' Handbook

Our Parents' Handbook contains a wealth of useful information for new and existing parents.

Communication is key and at Shrewsbury High School we communicate with our parents in a variety of ways to share information and news.  However, none of these replace individual academic and pastoral conversations between parents and staff that continue to take place on the phone, in person or via email.

School Post email system

School Post allows us to send out several letters to parents in one email. School Post will also save these messages from Shrewsbury High School in one place, making them easy to refer to and removing the need to scroll through your inbox to find the letter you are looking for.

Key points:

Routine school emails are sent out via School Post.  You will receive one email with links to letters and messages pertinent to your child/children.

This will not replace individual academic and pastoral conversations between parents and staff that will continue to take place on the phone, in person or via email.

We send out messages from school at 4.30pm each day so you are able to access them all at one time – please note that urgent messages from school will be sent separately.    These emails will come from “Shrewsbury High School” with the subject “Daily Messages.”

School Post is accessed through Firefly.  All parents have access to Firefly.

If you would like to see all of your school emails in one place, and search for specific emails that have been sent out, you can do this on the Firefly app.  Once you have activated your account you can also use the Firefly app for access. It is available to download on Google Play (Android) and the App store (Apple) using the school code: shrewsburyhigh

Parents’ Evening – you will find the link to our online booking system for booking Parents’ Evenings on the Firefly app.

You can also see your child’s profile including timetable, attendance and reports, as well as the co-curricular clubs timetable.

The SIMS Parents app is a convenient and easy to use way for us to share information with our parents about your child’s school life.

All parents are invited to sign up to the app, which can be accessed via a smartphone, tablet or PC, anytime, anywhere.

School term dates, timetable, attendance and contact details are available at the click of a button, along with your child’s school report and grade cards.

If you have more than one child at the school, you will have access to information for all your children, from the same app.

We use Evolve for trips’ and sports fixtures’ consent and Parent Pay to pay for trips and school events, as well as topping up your child’s dining room allowance.

Weekly Newsletter

The weekly newsletter is emailed to all parents at 4.30pm on a Friday.  This always includes forthcoming key dates, a message from the Head, next week’s lunch menu and sports fixtures, plus a variety of news and events.  You can find the newsletter link in your emails or go directly to the website at School News.
