Olivia - Memories of SHS
I was Head Girl at SHS back in 2017, and after leaving SHS I went to Bath Spa University where I graduated with a first in Theology & Creative Writing. Fast forward to 2025 and I’ve been living in San Diego, CA for the last two years.
My course feels like a long time ago now, but as well as studying I worked at an International School called Bath Academy & also ran a podcast. When I graduated, like many, I wasn’t too sure what to do next. I started working at a recruitment firm in Bristol called MDE, where as the only girl in sales (and the youngest) I was tasked to start a new ‘Sustainability desk’. After 6 months there my Manager and his Manager left the company to move to ‘Oscar’ where they were to open up a new San Diego office. Two weeks after they left I got a call asking if I would like to go with them….. A very easy yes! So the three of us worked together remotely for a year to build up business until we could move out to the states.
After another year at Oscar and a tough year for the energy sector in business, I left Oscar and moved to Intelletec Energy. A boutique recruitment firm with a small energy team, where I’m also the youngest by a good few years! My first 6 months there have been really successful and on our company annual trip to Palm Springs last week I actually won one of 3 prizes the company gave out, for ‘Impact’ in creating and leading a new strategy for our team. I love the people I work with and I’m excited for our little team to grow over the next year.
After being fortunate enough to have the opportunity to open up a California office with my last company, I love life on the West Coast but still stay in daily contact with friends I made all the way back in Year 5 at the High School. Also, as luck would have it my closest friend in San Diego is also a Brit who went to Brighton Girls.
